Once again I wracked my brain trying to come up with a recipe with two dairy ingredients for the contest at the county fair. Then Bakerella posted her Cheesecake Pops and I knew it was the one. I was protesting doing a cheesecake recipe because half the entries are always cheesecakes but this was different.
I made the cheesecake on Thursday after getting home from Appleton. It needs to really firm up to form the balls so I had to refrigerate it overnite. So I got up at 5 a.m. and made the balls and stuck the sticks in, then put them in the freezer. By 5:45 I was back in bed for a quick snooze. Up again at 6:30 and started the dipping process.
The carseats came in handy for transporting them.
This one was in honor of Isabella’s birth on Wednesday.
And of course one in red white & blue.
As the judges were tasting, we were feeling sorry for them because to try and sample 27 different desserts cannot be an easy job.
Thanks to the judges and sponsors of this contest. The competition is getting harder every year and any one of the 27 desserts could have won. I’ve gotten to know quite a few of the ladies who enter every year and we enjoy sitting and watching the judging together. The lady third from the left is Sue. We sit together every year for the judging and when I got there she told me that her and her daughter were going to come over and flatten my tires and tie me up so I couldn’t get there in time. All in good fun. I can’t wait for next year.
This was all that was left of the pops for the pictures. ( I know I should have taken Jack’s face off the side of my head but I didn’t have time to play around in Photoshop to do it. I have a baby to hold here.) OH yea I forgot to tell you, I took the grand prize and won myself a new freezer!
