It's been brutally cold here. Temps well below 0 and wind chills up to 50 below! That's just too cold. Tyler and Hannah spent the night because it was just too cold to come and get them at night and bring them back the next morning.

Outside this window it was 28 below! And thats not with the 35 mph winds added in. But Grammy why can't we play outside?

Joni decided it was time to entertain these two for awhile and so a game of hide and seek began. I was baking in the kitchen and had left the pantry door open and they decided it was a great place to hide even thought the doors wouldn't shut.

So Wednesday was another day with the kids. Hannah woke up at 5:15 a.m. and went to the living room to drink coffee with Grandpa. Tyler was up by 5:30 and by 6 they wanted breakfast. What a way to start the day. After breakfast we made a batch of homemade play dough and they spent the next several hours at the counter rolling and cutting and shaping their dough. In the afternoon we were going to plow Kari & Jon's driveway so we bundled up the kids and loaded them into the pickup to take them home. Although they love to stay with us they were happy to be home.

Oh well spring is coming and before you know it Hannah and I will be back to our gardening.

Winter Fun!

We went to the Simek Center one Saturday evening to try our skills on the ice. Here's Nicholas and Tyler. You can tell by all the white on their pants that they were falling quite a bit. By the end of the night Tyler was really picking up on his skating.

This was Hannah's idea of skating. She did actually have skates on but no way could she stand up so we took turns sliding her around the rink. Here's Shirley and Sandy taking a turn.

And then of course there was Tabby and Jacob.

Tabitha, Melissa, Joni and Tyler playing in the snow.

Hannah making her best attempt to catch snowflakes.

And last of all what is winter without some snow angels. Tyler figured the deck was as good a place as any.

Packers and Bitter Cold!

We spent Sunday over by the Buchans watching the playoff games. I really thought the Packers would pull a win out of the hat but no such luck. Here's Nicholas, Tyler and Hannah in their jerseys.

We went over to plow the driveway for Kari & Jon on Saturday. Tyler and Hannah wanted to come with us but it was sooooooooo cold outside. I think the high that day was -5. Sunday we woke up to -33. Now that is cold. Here's the kids with their sad faces when told they had to stay in the house. Stay warm, spring is coming!

Monday, Jan 7

Today we did some more bumming around town. Ate lunch at Paneras and then to the one of about fifty wal-marts in this town to develop some pictures. After that we headed to Focus on the Family to shop at their bookstore. This is a picture of their headquarters building.
Also a picture of the bookstore and visitors center.
A quick visit to Fort Carson and then home. A storm was moving in and we had to slip and slide to get back to the house. Tomorrow I'll be flying back to Wisconsin. It'll be sunny and nice out so the flight should be good.

Colorado Springs

A picture of Jackson staring at me (again) and one of the backyard, looking out over the neighborhood. The other is a picture out the front door. If you look between the houses you can see the Rockies.

I've been here since Friday and not really accomplished much. We've done some shopping and some cleaning and went to church. Oh and lots of eating out. The weather has been great for the most part. In the 60's on Fri and Sat but then snow yesterday. The mountains are beautiful as always. We were going to venture to the Garden of the Gods on Saturday but the winds were 50 mph.
